Sloops - Class G

The G-sloop is a wooden sloop with a rounded hull designed by C. Mower built by Morton Johnson, Bay Head New Jersey for racing in the BBYRA and day sailing. Length 18ft. 9in., Length at the water line 14ft., Beam 6ft., Draft 7in.. Mast 24ft., Sail Area Main 147 sq. feet Jib 57 sq. feet.

The G-Sloop raced in the BBYRA championship series from 1936 until 1963.

The last known G-sloops still sailing are owned by the Manhattan Sailing Club and are stored at Beatons boat Yard. The Barnegat Bay Maritime Museum has a boat on display at their museum.
