Manasquan River Race - Sneakbox Winner
Challenge Cup
The Challenge Cup is the legacy of a five year series of annual three race regattas, which began in 1906 between the Belmar Yacht Club and Manasquan River Yacht Club and was retired to MRYC in a tie-breaking regatta in 1910. The sterling silver trophy tooled by Tiffany & Co. New York, at a cost of $250.
A base was added and the trophy used for an open sneakbox regatta for several years, with many of the well know sneakbox sailors winning the trophy.
In 2003 the trophy was rededicated to the winner of the Sneakbox fleet at the MRYC hosted BBYRA regatta.
